Holy Hot Stuff

From the Manager

The next few days are shaping up to be just a little on the hot side. Thus far the Wedgwood pool community has helped us stay within our currently allowed capacity and I want to say thank you for helping us make this transition work. Please just keep doing what you’ve been doping and hopefully we will be able to continue to accommodate all that want to come for a swim. The intense heat over the next several days will really test our community. As a reminder, our current pool capacity in phase 3 is as follows:

  • In the water capacity 62 – Reach maximum, no swimmers can enter the pool until other swimmers exit the water.

  • In the facility capacity 90 – Reach maximum, only allow members to enter the facility once other members leave.

  • Prime time typically 3-7pm

  • Pool phone: 206-523-8211

The pool temperature will be a bit abnormal during this upcoming heat wave but we are going to do our best to keep the pool as comfortable as possible for as long as possible. To prepare, Friday morning we will be shutting the pool boilers down. Now this doesn’t mean the pool will be cold, but if you swim earlier in the day following Friday, it is very likely that the pool will feel cooler than normal. If we weren’t proactive with pool temperature, the pool would quickly become too warm by the afternoon and really wouldn’t offer much relief to anyone. During the heatwave, we’ll be on a rollercoaster ride with the pool temp as we slowly gain heat during the day and likely not lose all of that heat overnight. Despite our attempts to keep things comfortable I do believe that by late Sunday and likely later in the day on Monday as well, the pool will indeed feel like a bathtub regardless of these proactive steps. Still, a comfy 89 degree pool might  feel a bit okay in 100 degree heat.

A couple more things, if you come for a swim please remember to take a cleansing shower before you get into the pool. Our water quality starts with this one simple step. It really does make a difference in the clarity of the water as well as the amount of chemicals that we use. Thank you for doing your part in helping us keep our water as clean as possible.

Please also remember to keep yourself well hydrated, and be careful with your bare feet on the pool deck. It will get very, very hot!

Where are we with Guests?

At this time both our full and senior members may bring their children and grandchildren to the pool but because our pool capacity is still limited, I think it’s best to get through this heatwave before we expand guest policies any further.

Stay cool! -Raab

Aerobics Update

We are excited to announce that water aerobics will be starting Monday, June 28th! See below for more information:

  • When: Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 8:15am-9:00am

  • Who can attend: Members only can attend water aerobics

  • Class size: we are starting with 12 people per class, and may add more if space allows

  • Masks: You are not required to wear a mask while in the water during water aerobics

  • Cost: $5.00 per class.

    • You will pay when you make a reservation on funfangle.

    • We are not doing summer passes this year

  • Reservations: You will need to make a reservation through funfangle for water aerobics.

    • You will use your same funfangle log in as you used for pool reservations (if you have not made a funfangle account yet, email wwlessoncoordinator@gmail.com for the sign-up link and instructions)

    • Reservations for the first week of water aerobics will be available on Saturday, June 26th at 10:00am

    • Once reservations are live, you will be able to see reservations 7 days in advance

  • Rolling reservations: We will be using rolling reservations for water aerobics.

    • This means that you can always have 1 water aerobics reservation at a time. Once you have used a reservation, then you can sign up for another.

    •  For example, if you have a reservation for Monday water aerobics, then Monday at 9:01am you could sign up for another class.

  • “Day of” reservations: The limits on reservations will be lifted 12 hours prior to the class.

    • For example, at 8:15pm on a sunday you could sign up for monday’s class, even if you already have a reservation for wednesday.

    • IMPORTANT NOTE: If you do not already have a reservation made, when you sign up for a “day of” reservation, that will count as your 1 reservation. You will not be able to make another reservation until the class you reserved is over.

  • Cancellations: You can cancel your water aerobics reservation through funfangle

    • You will be refunded for the class when you cancel

    • Please CANCEL if you cannot attend a class, even if it is a last minute change, as this will allow someone to take your spot!

  • Questions or issues with funfangle: Contact Julie Lockhart wwlessoncoordinator@gmail.com
