from the manager…
It’s sure felt like summer yesterday! It was one of those situations where the super hot weather and an early season Sunday combined to push us very close to our maximum bather load. In fact, we’ve not gotten even close to that since July 2009!
Now I’m usually pretty on the ball with regard to sending out requests to limit guests on these sorts of days, but this time around my mind was certainly elsewhere. I think the end of the school year, as well as my wedding anniversary, also yesterday, and well, the pool was the furthest thing from my mind. Things all worked out in the end but in the future the request to limit and/or not bring in guests will likely return as we all want to avoid a situation where we have to shut the doors on our membership because of an overcrowded pool.
So with schools closed and the sun out it’s time to slide right into full time summer mode!
The schedule is a changing this week starting Tuesday. So read on and take note. Keep in mind we also have an away meet on Tuesday, hint, a great night for those not on the swim team to enjoy a much quieter club. On Thursday we have our first real deal home meet of the season, which will certainly be less than quiet. Also heads up, Thursday is team picture day as well, which means we will be setting up for the meet a tad earlier than usual to accommodate the picture taking.
Both Family and Teen Swims start on Tuesday this week as well. Details on those can be found below.
See you at the pool! -Raab
Family Swim
Family Swim starts on Tuesday and will run weekdays from 5:30-7:00pm. This is a quieter time at the club, perfect for families with small children. Keep in mind that those swimmers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult family member during the Family Swim time.
Teen Swim
Teen Swim is daily after 7pm. Teen members can bring in up to 3 guests for $2.50 per guest. These do not count against the guest allotment.

Reruns from last week:
Searching For Old Swim Team Photos and Banquet Programs
In hopes of properly documenting the wonderful and storied history of the Wedgwood Swim Team, Coach Matt is asking for old Swim Team Photos (whole team pictures) and old Banquet Programs from years gone by.
For Team Pictures, I am in need of years prior to 2009, other than several I already have from the 90s (I currently have ’90, ’91, ’93, ’94, ’95, ’96).
For Banquet Programs, I will take any that you have, other than ’89, ’91, ’92, ’93, ’94, ’95, ’96, ’15.
There will be a folder in the office all summer long for anybody to leave a photo or program for me. We will make sure to label the item to ensure you get it back and scan them in hopes of returning them to you quickly.
OR, if you already have an electronic copy, please email them to me at mattymmiller@gmail.com
For my final request, I would also love to have pictures of any current swim team parents WHO ARE ALSO Wedgwood Swim Team alums from when they were on swim team or hanging out at Wedgwood Pool. We are excited about the generations that come through Wedgwood and I’m hoping to put something together to highlight the amazing numbers we have as 2nd and 3rd generation swimmers.
The same process will apply for either hard copies of photos (a folder in the office) or electronic copies (email me). Please label who you all are (with maiden names too, if applicable), so I don’t have to do too much guessing.
Thanks for all the help! -Coach Matt
Swim Club Members…We need an upgrade!
The Pool Board is looking for a current member or waitlist member who can evaluate our data base needs and recommend tools and processes to improve the pool registration, sign-in & payment systems. (Note: A reduction in pool dues or payment of an hourly fee can be negotiated for your time). Please reach out to Raab Parker, Pool Manager, at manager@wwpool.org or Barbara Brandt, Board President, at barbarabrandt@windermere.com, if you have the skills and experience. We need your help!
